Canadian employers reported 392,000 job vacancies in the second quarter, and the job vacancy rate was 2.5%.
Railway carloadings, August 2016
The volume of rail freight carried in Canada totalled 29.8 million tonnes in August, down 0.8% from the same month in 2015. From August 2011 to August 2016, the total volume of rail freight carried in Canada increased 6.6%.

The six Canadian Level I air carriers flew 7.4 million passengers on scheduled and charter services in August, up 10.5% from August 2015.

Births, 2013
In 2013, there were 380,323 live births in Canada, down slightly from 381,869 births in 2012. The number of live births in 2013 was the fourth highest annual number in the last 20 years. The proportion of male live births (51.3%) was slightly higher in 2013 than that of female live births (48.7%).
