After wrapping up three days of high-level, high-stakes meetings with his G7 counterparts in Kananaskis, Alta., Prime Minister Mark Carney is heading back to Ottawa today, according to his itinerary, although not in time to make it back to the House of Commons to field questions from his opposition rivals this afternoon.

He and his team can, however, breathe a quiet sigh of relief after his minority government survived another round of make-or-break confidence votes last night as MPs signed off on billions of dollars in proposed expenditures outlined in the main and supplementary estimates, which passed with the support of the Bloc Québécois, as well as the seven remaining New Democrat MPs and lone Green representative Elizabeth May.
