The Tsilhqot’in Nation will argue at the Environmental Appeal Board that government failed to adequately protect the environment in issuing a permit amendment allowing for an increase in discharge from the mine.

Taseko Mines’ Gibraltar mine discharges tailings effluent, under provincial permit, directly into the Fraser River four kilometres downstream of the Tsilhqot’in-member ?Esdilagh First Nation’s community, and in 2019, received permission to increase the amount discharged.
