$1M in grants announced in Timmins at symposium – Timmins Press

TIMMINS – Ontario Aboriginal Affairs Minister David Zimmer came to Timmins Thursday bearing gifts. Zimmer, who was a guest speaker at the Aboriginal Energy Symposium at Cedar Meadows, handed over more than a million dollars in grants to four Northern agencies.

The money is from the Jobs and Prosperity Fund, which is part of the Liberal Aboriginal Economic Development Fund announced last year.

“It’s a three year $25-million initiative that will help Aboriginal businesses, communities and organizations,” said the minister.

He said the goal is to create new businesses and diversify existing businesses with the aim to create new job opportunities.
