Register now for the fifth annual Indigenous Perspectives roundtable series taking place this year over two days.
Every year, the Indigenous Perspective roundtable, hosted in partnership with the Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources (CIER), brings together more than 1,000 people to listen, learn, and reflect on Indigenous-led research exploring some of the most pressing climate issues of our time.
This year, we’re expanding the conversation into a two-part series. Each webinar will cover different content so please consider registering for both.
Roundtable 1 : Indigenous Ways of Knowing as Climate Policy

We’ll discuss three consequential case studies that explore why Indigenous governance approaches and worldviews are essential to more effective climate adaptation and mitigation policies. Topics include:
- Why Anishnabe governance is essential to restoring healthy moose populations and a healthy climate—with authors Shannon Chief and Jaimie Vincent.
- How the Friends of The Attawapiskat River are standing up to protect lands, water, culture, and all of our relations from the proposed Ring of Fire—with authors Michel Koostachin, Rick Cheechoo, and Kerrie Blaise.
- How Indigenous economic ecosystems are essential for climate adaptation and fisheries management—with authors Tasha Brooks and Leighton Gall.
Roundtable 2 : Indigenous Power as the Pathway to Clean Electricity

- How First Nations are uniquely positioned to achieve energy sovereignty while solving energy security for all New Brunswickers—with authors Kevin Woods, Tracy Primeau, and Claire Harris.
