The leader of an indigenous people’s advocacy group in Saskatoon hopes to use an upcoming event focusing on issues affecting people living off-reserve to start a larger conversation about carding and street checks in the city.
The event, which is part of the The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples’ (CAP) National Grassroots Engagement Tour, will take place today from 4 to 7 p.m. Kim Beaudin, president of the Aboriginal Affairs Coalition of Saskatchewan (AACS), said the event will serve as a safe place for people to talk about their street check experiences.
