The full-time, cooperative, 24-month Indigenous Financial Management Apprenticeship Program (IFMAP) seeks to empower Indigenous individuals interested in finance and increase Indigenous representation in financial roles within the federal public service and broader finance community. Through full-time employment with the federal government on a 24-month term, IFMAP is designed to enable its apprentices to build essential skills for junior financial roles and/or uplift financial literacy within their communities. Ultimately, the IFMAP is intended to serve as a launchpad for a financial career in public, private or non-profit organizations.
Dual Academic Streams
To support Indigenous talent across Canada, IFMAP offers two distinct academic pathways. Regardless of which federal department you are placed in, your foundational schooling is tailored to your preferred language of instruction:
- The English Stream: Academic core courses are delivered in partnership with Simon Fraser University (SFU) and AFOA Canada.
- The French Stream: Academic core courses are delivered in partnership with the Faculté des sciences de l’administration of Université Laval (FSA ULaval) and AFOA Canada.
