Summary:

• The AFN stands in solidarity with all First Nations impacted by the wildfire situation placing immense stress and displacement for our First Nations communities.
• The Annual General Assembly (AGA) is not cancelled at this time, however, we are closely monitoring the wildfire situation in Manitoba and its potential impact on Winnipeg, including venues and accommodations.
• We remain flexible and sensitive to the challenges faced by First Nations and will communicate promptly should any changes to the AGA occur.

Wildfires have displaced thousands of First Nations community members across Turtle Island. We stand in solidarity with all those affected and recognize the immense strain this crisis is placing on our communities.

We are aware that hotels and potentially the convention centre in Winnipeg may be affected, and we are assessing the potential impact on the AGA. We also want to make the best decisions, with the wellbeing of our communities at the forefront. We are committed to remaining flexible and responsive as circumstances evolve.

Considering this evolving situation, I want to confirm that as of now, the AGA has not been cancelled. However, we remain highly attuned to the situation on the ground and continue to monitor developments closely.
