Atchison mulls 2016 run – StarPhoenix

At the midway point of his latest four-year term leading Saskatoon, Mayor Don Atchison said Friday he’s “leaning” toward seeking a fifth straight mandate.

If successful, Atchison would become the first Saskatoon mayor to win five elections. Cliff Wright and Henry Dayday each won four three-year terms.

Atchison will already become the longest-serving mayor at 13 years if he finishes his current term after the time between elections was increased to four years.

In an interview, he said several key infrastructure projects were among this council’s successes and the recent Saskatoon Transit lockout was a major disappointment.
