Press Release
January 07, 2019
All scheduled sailings will operate out of Departure Bay
VICTORIA –BC Ferries will temporarily close the Duke Point terminal on Saturday, January 26 and Sunday, January 27, 2019 to replace the vehicle ramp at the facility. During this two-day period, sailings will operate out of the nearby Departure Bay Terminal.
Customers who would normally travel between Tsawwassen and Duke Point will instead arrive at or depart from Departure Bay. This unique routing will require a modified schedule for January 26 and 27. There will be six arrivals and departures on each of these days, with sailing times different from what BC Ferries currently offers on the Duke Point –Tsawwassen route. Sailings will depart from both Departure Bay and Tsawwassen on the following schedule:
| Saturday, January 26 | Sunday, January 27 |
| 6:50 am | |
| 9:20 am | 9:20 am |
| 11:50 am | 11:50 am |
| 2:20 pm | 2:20 pm |
| 4:50 pm | 4:50 pm |
| 7:20 pm | 7:20 pm |
| 9:50 pm |
This work is part of a continued effort to improve assets and provide reliable service for customers. The vehicle ramp and apron at Duke Point have been in place since the terminal opened in 1997 and now need to be replaced. The contractor will use a barge and crane to remove the old apron and replace it with a prefabricated new one.
Every effort is being made to minimize the impact on travel. BC Ferries chose the dates for this temporary closure based on dates that are traditionally some of the least busy travel days of the entire year.
For customers wishing to make reservations on this route on January 26 and 27, they will be open for booking on January 14. For more information on this Departure Bay – Tsawwassen two-day schedule, please visit bcferries.com.
