What’s happening on and off the Hill today, plus the news you need to start your day.
After making the rounds of Montreal’s annual St. Patrick’s Day festivities yesterday afternoon — where, as Canadian Press notes, he “walked the entire route of more than two kilometres along De Maisonneuve Boulevard, often veering off into the crowd to shake hands and snap photos” — newly installed Prime Minister Mark Carney is starting his first full week in office with a lightning-round transatlantic tour.
The three-day trip got underway this morning in Paris, where he was booked in for a tête-à-tête with French president Emmanuel Macron, who extended the invitation “before Carney was even sworn in as prime minister,” according to CP.
