SYDNEY, N.S. — Former Enterprise Cape Breton Corp. second-in-command Marlene Usher has landed a new job as CEO of the Sydney Ports Corp.
The Cape Breton Regional Municipality created the executive-level position to offer “strategic guidance” and enhance marketing efforts for future port development, CBRM chief administrative officer Michael Merritt stated in an issue paper before council Tuesday.
Usher had continued in her role as an executive director general at the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency following the federal government’s decision to dismantle its economic development arm, ECBC, in March.
She will keep her status as a federal government employee as she’s seconded to the non-profit corporation owned by the CBRM.
