The City of Yellowknife has partnered with Northland Utilities and Northwest Territories Power Corporation to provide Yellowknife residents with emergency planning information for winter power outages.
These documents provide residents with the information they need to be ready for a winter power outage, covering everything from preparing an Emergency Kit and where to get information during an outage to what to do after an outage. The documents are divided into pamphlets on Preparing Businesses, Preparing Yourself, Preparing Your Home, and Emergency Contact Information. The emergency planning information is available on the City of Yellowknife website and at City Hall.
“Being prepared for an emergency can make the difference between inconvenience and something more serious,” says Mayor Mark Heyck. “With winter now upon us, we hope that the information available will help Yellowknifers prepare for winter power outages and emergencies.”
