Dakota Tipi First Nation is hosting a variety of events to promote the reserve and establish ties with neighbours.

The reserve will be hosting a trade show on Feb. 11 from 3-8 p.m., with a traditional supper being served. Workshops are planned for Feb. 12-13 for developing a business plan with the best plan being submitted for a $5,000 award. To round out the week the reserve will be hosting a fashion show followed by a teen dance on Feb. 14. The trade show and workshops are free, while tickets to the fashion show and dance are $5. All the events will be held at the Dakota Gaming Centre.

This is the first time the reserve is hosting events like these and all the events are open to everybody, not just those in the community, said Clinton Pashe, economic development officer.

“(Its) mostly local businesses, locals that want to set up, they’re invited to come present what they have to offer for employment or present a successful business and how they got to where they are today,” Pashe said.
