Eskasoni — Leroy Denny has been re-elected to a third successive term as chief of the Eskasoni First Nation.
The 38-year-old Denny received 1,085 votes (53 per cent) to defeat challengers Blair Stephen Francis (659), Thomas George Poulette (281) and Dale Frank Dennis (25).
The band election was held Monday and the ballots were counted Tuesday.
Meanwhile, 10 of the band’s 12 incumbent councillors were re-elected, with newcomers Brendon Poulette (888 votes) and Kimberley A. Marshall (873) joining the council at the expense of defeated former councillors Charles Blaise Young and Oliver (Sappy) Denny.
