Mississauga First Nation says Ontario’s ‘backdoor attempt to deregulate dams’ across province is unconstitutional
Mississauga First Nation is taking Ontario and Brookfield Renewable Energy to court next week over what it says is a ‘backdoor attempt’ at deregulating hydroelectric dams across the province.
A media release from the First Nation says the constitutional challenge stems from the “accumulating extreme impacts” from four hydroelectric dams on the Mississagi River that are owned by Brookfield and regulated by the province.
