Government of Canada Announces Appointment to CRTC

The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced the appointment of Yves Dupras as a full-time member of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), designated for the Quebec Region, for a term of five years, effective August 11, 2014.

- Mr. Dupras is a Quebec Lawyer with over 30 years of experience in the areas of business, entertainment, media, communications, and strategic and regulatory affairs.
- He has been a senior business and securities lawyer with the Montréal law firm Spiegel Sohmer Inc. since 2010.
- Mr. Dupras has had in-depth involvement with the regulatory process, having previously served on the CRTC as a part-time member (1992) and full-time member for the Quebec Region (1993–98).
- Mr. Dupras holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa.
- The CRTC is an independent public authority that regulates and supervises, in the public interest, all aspects of the Canadian broadcasting system, as well as the telecommunications services providers and common carriers that come under federal jurisdiction.
