Government of Canada congratulates Membertou First Nation on grand opening of “Lanes at Membertou”

The Government of Canada is proud to support economic development opportunities and growth in First Nation communities.
Today, the Honourable Seamus O’Regan, Minister of Indigenous Services, offered his congratulations to Chief Terry Paul, the Council, and Membertou First Nation on the grand opening of Lanes at Membertou bowling and entertainment centre.
Built on the First Nation, Lanes at Membertou offers 16 lanes of candlepin-style bowling, multi-sport simulators including golf and football and a food and beverage area. To date, Lanes at Membertou has created 68 full and part-time jobs in the community.
Indigenous Services Canada is pleased to support Lanes at Membertou through the Community Opportunity Readiness Program.

- Membertou First Nation is an urban First Nation community located in the heart of the city of Sydney, Nova Scotia. It has a total registered population of 1550 people, with approximately 930 people living on reserve.
- Lanes at Membertou will be the Sydney area’s first bowling alley since 2010, when the Heather Lanes closed.
