Indigenous-inspired buildings in Scarborough will invite people to see former borough differently – Toronto.com

Four structures underway in 2022 could spark questions, reconciliation

There is a Scarborough everyone sees and another, often unseen but always there and growing, that is Indigenous.

While Indigenous reality can be hidden in Scarborough’s suburban landscape, four structures built from an Indigenous perspective will be under construction in the former borough in 2022.

When finished, those structures — a six-storey addition to Centennial College’s main building at the Progress Campus, an Indigenous hub at University of Toronto Scarborough, Thunder Woman Healing Lodge in Cliffside and a multi-purpose pavilion in Eastview Park — will be invitations to see Scarborough differently.
