iPolitics AM: Tories urge House to support vaccine access for all by May long weekend – iPolitics

With three weeks to go until the May long weekend that typically — if unofficially — marks the start of the summer across the country, the Conservatives are set to spend their first opposition day of the spring supply cycle making the case for a motion to have the House call on the government to “ensure that every Canadian adult has access to a vaccine” by the time it rolls around.

As previewed by iPolitics yesterday, the motion, which was sponsored by the party’s health critic, Michelle Rempel Garner, points out that, as of today, “only 2.7 per cent of Canadians are fully vaccinated against COVID-19,” and contends that the government “did not deliver adequate vaccine supply” during the first two months of the year, which it suggests — but doesn’t explicitly state — is linked to the “increased restrictions and lockdowns” now underway “in multiple provinces from British Columbia to Nova Scotia.”
