It’s Time to Talk Indigenous Speaker Series to feature author of Indigenomics – Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo

Series seeks to highlight voices of Indigenous artists, writers, activists, and leaders

(Fort McMurray, AB) The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is proud to present the next guest speaker in the It’s Time to Talk: Indigenous Speaker Series, on Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.

Indigenous business leader Carole Anne Hilton, the CEO and founder of the Indigenomics Institute and the Global Center of Indigenomics, is the next featured speaker in the series. She is the author of Indigenomics – Taking A Seat at the Economic Table.

This free, interactive series seeks to highlight voices of Indigenous artists, writers, activists, and leaders to provide powerful examples of strength and the positive impacts that one individual can have. The Speaker Series is an opportunity to learn, understand and engage on important issues like homelessness, addiction, intergenerational trauma, and reconciliation.

The virtual event will feature an address from the author and a question and answer session. To register, please email participate@rmwb.ca.

About Indigenomics – Taking A Seat at the Economic Table

Indigenomics lays out the tenets of the emerging Indigenous economy, built around relationships, multigenerational stewardship of resources, and care for all.

Recommended reading for business leaders and entrepreneurs, Indigenous organizations and nations, governments and policymakers, and economists, Indigenomics calls for a new model of development, one that advances Indigenous self-determination, collective well-being, and reconciliation.

Author Carol Anne Hilton

Of Nuu chah nulth descent from the Hesquiaht Nation on Vancouver Island, Carol Anne is a dynamic national business leader, author, speaker, and senior adviser with an international Master of Business Management (MBA) degree from the University of Hertfordshire, England.

She is the CEO and founder of the Indigenomics Institute and the Global Center of Indigenomics and is an adjunct professor at Royal Roads University’s School of Business.

The only Indigenous person appointed to the Canadian Economic Growth Council as a senior advisor to the federal Finance Minister, she most recently served on the BC Emerging Economy Taskforce, and the BC Indigenous Business and Investment Council. Carol Anne currently serves as a Director on the McGill University Institute for the Study of Canada, MITACS Research and the BC Digital Supercluster.

Her work has been recognized with the 2020 BC Achievement Foundation’s Award of Distinction in Indigenous Business and the 2018 national Excellence in Aboriginal Relations Award from the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.
