Amid a fresh surge in concerns over the latest wave of tariff threats from U.S. President Donald Trump — who, as Canadian Press reports, has recently served notice of potential new surcharges on pharmaceuticals and copper imports — Industry Minister Mélanie Joly and Housing Minister Gregor Robertson will share the latest developments in their government’s ongoing efforts to address “Canada’s economic, industrial and security priorities” during a joint appearance at a morning event hosted by the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. In a back-and-forth with reporters at a research funding reveal in Vancouver yesterday, Joly noted, while the government “has not yet seen an executive order” on the new tariffs, “the embassy in Washington is following very closely,” as is “the entire team back in Ottawa.”
