Manitoba Government Appoints Deputy Ministers to New and Refocused Portfolios

The Manitoba government has appointed new deputy ministers to support executive council in new and refocused government departments, Premier Wab Kinew announced today.
“Our government could not fulfil our commitments to Manitobans without the support of a dedicated public service, led by a team of high calibre deputy ministers,” said Kinew. “This refreshed complement of deputy ministers will continue to provide excellent non-partisan advice to our cabinet and continue to shepherd important policy initiatives forward.”
Deputy ministers provide advice to cabinet ministers on policy development and implementation and deliver effective departmental management. Led by the clerk of the executive council, the deputy ministers will support the provincial government in its mandate to deliver quality government services that help Manitoba families live a good life, noted the premier.
The list of deputy ministers is:
Sarah Thiele – clerk of the executive council, cabinet secretary and deputy minister to the premier;
Ainsley Krone – Indigenous Reconciliation;
Scott Sinclair – Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care;
Brenda DeSerranno – Agriculture;
Jeremy Akerstream – Justice and deputy attorney general;
Michelle Dubik – Families;
Catherine Gates – Housing, Addictions and Homelessness;
Brian O’Leary – Education and Early Childhood Learning;
Bruce Gray – Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures;
Bernadette Preun – Labour and Immigration;
Michael Jack – Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation;
