The Manitoba Labour Market Outlook Report for 2018–2024predicts consistent job growth in the province, Growth, Enterprise and Minister Trade Blaine Pedersen announced today.
“This report shows Manitoba’s labour market is balanced, with the overall labour supply approximately equal to labour market demand,” said Pedersen. “A total of 168,700 job openings are expected to be created between 2018 and 2024, with unemployment projected to decline slightly over the next five years.”
Pedersen noted the outlook report uses up-to-date trends to inform students, parents, teachers and guidance counsellors, and support career planning. The information includes occupation-specific analysis of future demand, an estimate of the number of future job openings and information on the ability of businesses to meet current labour demand, he said.
“The information in this report can help employers to plan ahead and determine the workplace skills they will need to grow their business,” said Pedersen. “It also helps job seekers identify in-demand sectors in our economy to help inform their career decisions.”
