Media Advisory—The Auditor General of Canada will deliver 6 performance audit reports to the House of Commons on Tuesday, October 21, 2025

Ottawa, October 2, 2025—On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the Auditor General of Canada, Karen Hogan, will deliver 6 performance audit reports to the House of Commons. Tabling in Parliament is expected at approximately 10:00 am Eastern Time (ET). Descriptions of the reports are provided below.

Access to electronic embargoed reports

7:15 am ET

Journalists accredited by a recognized media organization who wish to receive embargoed electronic copies of the reports must register by emailing infomedia@oag-bvg.gc.ca before 4:30 pm ET on October 20, 2025. Embargoed copies will be provided at 7:15 am ET on October 21, 2025. Please note that embargoed reports are available only electronically.

Online technical briefing

9:15 am to 10:00 am ET

Subject matter experts will be available online to answer technical or background questions (no attribution).

Online sessions with experts will begin and end promptly at the times listed above. No additional time will be available.

News conference

12:30 pm to 1:30 pm ET

The following reports will be included in this release:

Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care System. This audit focuses on whether Employment and Social Development Canada fulfilled its responsibilities to support early learning and child care across Canada.

Canada Revenue Agency Contact Centres. This audit focuses on whether the Canada Revenue Agency’s contact centres provided callers with accurate information in a timely manner regarding individual taxes, benefits, and business taxes.

Follow-up on Programs for First Nations. This audit focuses on whether Indigenous Services Canada made satisfactory progress in implementing the actions needed to address the recommendations included in 6 previous audit reports of the Office of the Auditor General of Canada issued between 2015 and 2022.

Housing Canadian Armed Forces Members. This audit focuses on whether National Defence managed living accommodations to meet its operational requirements and respond to the needs of Canadian Armed Forces members.

Recruiting for Canada’s Military. This audit focuses on whether the Canadian Armed Forces recruited and trained the members it needed to meet operational requirements.

Cyber Security of Government Networks and Systems. This audit focuses on whether the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, Communications Security Establishment Canada, and Shared Services Canada had the tools in place to protect and defend government networks and systems from cyber attacks in a coordinated manner.
