WHERE: Harry Hays Building at 270 220 4th Avenue SE in Calgary, Alberta on June 16, 2014. Copies of the Statement of Claim and press release will be provided to those media in attendance at the press conference.
WHY: The National Engineering Assessment of First Nation Water Systems in 2011 found that 73% of First Nation communities face significant risks to human health from unsafe drinking water. This is comparable to many Third World countries. Inaction and neglect by the federal government created unsafe drinking water for First Nations, and its continued indifference has sustained this shameful situation. Drinking water for First Nation Peoples should be as safe as all other communities in Canada.
