Churchill Crossing development ready to move into high gear
MEMBERTOU — It pays to be persistent, says Membertou Chief Terry Paul.
The First Nation located on the edge of Sydney within the city’s street network has wanted its own direct access to a twinned Highway 125 for a long time.
Paul said he remembers years ago when provincial and federal governments turned down his request to fund a highway interchange into the aboriginal community.
“We were told it was a safety issue,” he said in an interview Thursday at his office on the third floor of the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre.
