Metanor Resources Begins an Exploration Program 250 Km North of Val d’Or, Quebec – Mining Online

Nov 10, 2014

Metanor Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE: MTO) has began a surface exploration program  near its Coniagas property, located 250 km North-East of Val d’Or in Abitibi, and 1.6 km from the Bachelor Mine operated by Metanor. The Coniagas Mine, a past producing mine , extracted 718,500 T at 10.8% Zn, 1% Pb, and 183 g/T Ag (Carrier & Davy, 2005) during the 60’s.

In the fall 2014, Metanor hired Abitibi Geophysique of Val d’Or to complete a geophysical high power IP survey in the sector between the Coniagas and Bachelor properties, and the sector east of the Bachelor property. Many deep conductors were identified, and some within the lateral extension of the Coniagas deposit. A conductor with strong chargeability is located 600 meters east of the old Coniagas shaft. Holes, drilled in 1984 in that sector, reported the presence of narrow zone of sphalerite associated with a chert horizon which is a geological formation sometimes observed near a volcanic massive sulfide deposit.

The initial phase of the drill program will target the conductors located in the Coniagas sector. Other conductors oriented in similar directions of the gold structures at Bachelor Mine will be drilled in the second phase of the drill campaign. In total, 2000 m of drilling are planned in this campaign that will begin now and be completed near mid-January.
