Vancouver BC- The National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Women and Girls will hold community hearings at the Radisson Hotel Downtown in Winnipeg, MB from October 16-20, 2017.
Two Commissioners will be in attendance, which is the standard approach to hearings. Commissioners Michele Audette and Brian Eyolfson will hear from approximately 75 witnesses through public and private hearings, sharing circle testimonies and artistic expression panels. Given the prominence of the five day hearings in Winnipeg, Chief Commissioner Marion Buller’s schedule has been adjusted so that she may attend hearings on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.
There will also be statement gatherers on-site for those who decide to register. Scheduling runs from 9 am through 5 pm CT daily.

A mandatory technical briefing will take place on Sunday, October 14 @ 4:00 PM CT for media that want to report on-site during the five day event.

Throughout the week there may be opportunity with Commissioners and spokesperson(s) to accommodate media requests. On Thursday, October 19, 2017 there will be a PRESS CONFERENCE that will also take place in the main hearing room at the Radisson Hotel Downtown.

The entire process will be guided by traditional ceremonies of the Treaty One Territory. There will be a Sacred Fire at the Oodena Circle in the Forks that will be kept burning through the entire event. All Ceremonies are open to the public but out of respect for local protocols no photos or video will be tolerated.
