Still a need for more aboriginal inclusion
City staff — including police — need training to learn how to interact more respectfully with aboriginal people, say some of Saskatoon’s aboriginal residents.
The message, which came out of an urban aboriginal community gathering held last year, was delivered Thursday to the city’s race relations committee.
Gilles Dorval, the city’s director of aboriginal relations, said the city has made significant strides in addressing racism in the 25 years its had a race relations committee, but “we’ve definitely got some work to do.”
