Description: The Assembly of First Nations is seeking a highly skilled and motivated National Climate Change Coordinator to support the National Office in its engagement with First Nations regionally on issues related to climate change. The National Coordinator will organize outreach, coordinate, and facilitate meetings, initiate communication, and prepare documentation based on engagement at the regional level. The incumbent will also gather and research information, provide recommendations on policy, research and advocacy related First Nations issues on climate change.

Abilities & Skills

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a domain related to climate change / environmental research and/or advocacy, ideally in a First Nation setting;
• Post-secondary degree in the social or natural sciences, resource / project management, environment or a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education &
  experience in a specific policy area;
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills;
• Demonstrated project management skills, with good ability to plan, organize and set priorities, while also taking direction;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others in an open, constructive and respectful manner;
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships, while working collaboratively and professionally as a member of a broader team;
• Ability to work independently and expeditiously with tight timelines and competing priorities;
• Demonstrated resourcefulness, professionalism, judgement, and initiative; and
• Moderate to high level of computer literacy.
• Diplomacy, tact and sound decision-making ability;
• English is the working language; however, the ability to work in both official languages (English/French) is an asset, as is knowledge of an Indigenous language(s).
