NU Government: October brings National Disability Employment Awareness

Press Release

October 15, 2018

National Disability Employment Awareness Month aims to reduce barriers and to help individuals learn more about inclusive employment and workplace accommodations.

The Department of Family Services Piqataugitsi program is a program under the Workforce Development Agreement (WDA). Piqataugitsi promotes equity, access, and inclusion in the labour market for all Nunavummiut, by ensuring persons with disabilities and those who face persistent barriers to employment have equal access to the labour market.

Funding from the WDA is available to support the delivery of training and employment programs for individuals facing barriers to employment because of a disability and to organizations, training institutions, employers, non-government organizations, not-for-profits, Inuit organizations, etc.

To learn more about inclusive employment, what it means to be an inclusive employer, and/or to receive more information on potential funding opportunities, please contact Jayme Lynn Freda, Program Development & Delivery Specialist at jfreda@gov.nu.ca or 867-975-5244.
