Qalipu database of companies will be shared with Emera – Western Star

The Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation Band is putting together a database that will provide Emera with access to local businesses in one location.
Lynn Kendall said an important part of the project is making sure the band’s members are represented in that directory.
Kendall, a business professor at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland, is overseeing the project for the band. She spoke about the project during a meeting for band members from the Corner Brook and Benoit’s Cove wards at the civic centre Wednesday night.
In an interview Thursday afternoon, she said part of what she does at Grenfell involves community engagement and research. As a former director of finance and administration with Qalipu, she said the band is near and dear to her heart.
