The Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology announced a new initiative to bring First Nations communities new career-finding tools.
Alongside the provincial government, SIIT unveiled two mobile job connections buses on Wednesday. The vehicles have been outfitted with laptops and work spaces, and will be used as a kind of moving career fair to offer employment outreach services for aboriginal people.
“Essentially, these are employment and training centres on wheels. They provide convenient access to the service that First Nations need to research a career, training opportunities, develop an action plan and connect with employers to ultimately gain meaningful employment,” said Saskatoon-Sutherland MLA Paul Merriman.
