Manufacturing sales rose 1.7% in January, primarily due to higher sales of motor vehicles and petroleum and coal products. Meanwhile, sales of chemical products posted the largest decline.

Socioeconomic outcomes of immigrants admitted to Canada as children, 2023

About 2 million children, aged 14 or younger, immigrated to Canada during the period from 1980 to 2023, accounting for approximately 20% of those admitted to Canada during this period. Their long-term socioeconomic outcomes, such as education attainment and wages, are important aspects for understanding their integration in Canadian society and their contributions to Canada’s economy and society over time.

Infrastructure economic account, 2024

With today’s release, estimates for investment, stock, remaining useful service life, as well as economic and environmental impacts have been released for 2024. The data for 1981 to 2023 have also been updated, as revisions to the methodology for measuring the stock and investment for several assets (airports and other passenger terminals, communication buildings, pipelines, railways and student residences) were updated. All the estimates are consistent with the fourth quarter 2024 release of the Income and Expenditure accounts on February 28.
