Quarterly financial statistics for enterprises, fourth quarter 2024
Net income before taxes for Canadian corporations increased $3.3 billion (+2.1%) in the fourth quarter, reaching $164.5 billion. This gain was driven by the non-financial sector (+3.2%) and partly offset by the financial sector (-0.7%).
Monthly estimates of business openings and closures, November 2024
In November, the business opening rate rose 0.2 percentage points to 5.0% after holding relatively steady at 4.8% over the previous two months. The opening rate was 0.3 percentage points above its 2015-to-2019 historical average of 4.7%. The business closure rate edged up 0.1 percentage points for a second consecutive month and settled at 5.0% in November 2024. The closure rate was 0.4 percentage points above its historical average.
Persons with disabilities or long-term conditions and barriers in their online activities, 2024
In 2024, almost half (45%) of persons with disabilities or long-term conditions reported having faced barriers in their online activities because of their condition.

Updated estimates of the total counts and T4 earnings of interjurisdictional employees in Canada are available through the Common Output Data Repository (tables 14-10-0473-01, 14-10-0474-01, 14-10-0475-01 and 14-10-0476-01) for each jurisdiction. These estimates are disaggregated by the North American Industry Classification System, age and sex.
