The population of Canada was estimated at 41,417,056 on April 1, 2026, a decrease of 55,025 people (-0.1%) from January 1 to April 1, 2026.
Workplace artificial intelligence use: A profile of sociodemographic and job characteristics, September 2024 to July 2025
From September 2024 to July 2025, more than one in five Canadian workers (22%) reported having used generative artificial intelligence (AI) at work. Generative AI use was higher in natural and applied science occupations and in the professional, scientific and technical services industry.

The COVID-19 pandemic led to a rapid expansion in the use of virtual care through telephone, video and other digital forms of communication. This shift was driven by infection control measures to reduce in-person contact. Although the use of virtual care declined following the easing of public health restrictions, it has remained an important component of health care delivery. The continued use of virtual care highlights the need to better understand patient experiences to inform sustainable, patient-centred models of care.
Employer pension plans (trusteed pension funds), fourth quarter 2025
At the end of the fourth quarter of 2025, the market value of assets held by Canadian trusteed pension funds reached $2.6 trillion, a year-over-year increase of $151.9 billion (+6.2%).

In 2024, 27.5 million tonnes of non-hazardous waste were sent to private and public waste disposal facilities in Canada, up approximately 1.5% from 2022.
