Industrial product and raw materials price indexes, May 2026

The Industrial Product Price Index rose 1.2% month over month in May and increased 13.6% year over year. The Raw Materials Price Index gained 0.7% month over month in May and rose 33.4% year over year.

Police-reported mass casualty events in Canada, 2010 to 2024

Mass casualty events—defined as intentional acts of violence where four or more victims sustained minor or major physical injury, or died—accounted for a very small proportion (0.1%) of police-reported violent crime from 2010 to 2024. In all, 5,475 mass casualty events occurred during this period, and of these, 3.3% involved four or more victims who sustained major physical injury or died.

Balance sheet of the agricultural sector, December 31, 2025

The value of Canada’s farm sector equity rose by $54.5 billion (+6.5%) to $888.9 billion as of December 31, 2025. Farm equity rose in every province, except British Columbia (-1.7%). Equity gains in Alberta (+11.6%) and Saskatchewan (+9.9%) accounted for more than three-quarters of the national increase.

New analysis on Indigenous language use in Canada, 2021 and 2022

Today, the Centre for Indigenous Statistics and Partnerships at Statistics Canada, in collaboration with the Office of the Commissioner of Indigenous Languages, is releasing two articles on Indigenous language use in Canada. The first, entitled Silent speakers of Indigenous languages in Canada: A socio-demographic and geographic analysis, considers the characteristics of people who learned an Indigenous language as their mother tongue but could no longer speak the language. The second article, The use of Indigenous languages in urban areas in Canada, reports on the linguistic profile and trends of Indigenous language speakers living in census metropolitan areas (CMAs) and census agglomerations (CAs).
