Circumstances surrounding pedestrian fatalities, 2018 to 2020
Understanding the circumstances surrounding pedestrian fatalities is an important starting point to inform the continued development and implementation of safety measures. In recognition of Pedestrian Safety Awareness Month, Statistics Canada is releasing information on the circumstances surrounding pedestrian fatalities.
Canadian Social Survey: Energy use
In the face of rising energy prices, not all Canadian households are able to adequately heat and cool their dwellings. In 2023, 14% of Canadian households reported that they kept their dwelling at an unsafe or uncomfortable temperature for at least 1 month in the past 12 months because of unaffordable heating or cooling costs.
Energy consumption by the manufacturing sector, 2022
Energy consumption by the manufacturing sector increased by 2.2% to 2 181 petajoules from 2021 to 2022. The demand for manufactured products has continued to grow since the reopening of the economy in 2021.

The total amount of electricity generated in Canada increased by 1.3% to 636.2 million megawatt-hours (MWh) in 2022, a rise of 7.9 million MWh from the previous year.
