Building permits, November 2025
In November, the total value of building permits issued in Canada decreased by $1.8 billion (-13.1%) to $12.0 billion.
Deaths, 2024
Today, Statistics Canada is releasing preliminary data on deaths in Canada, covering the 2024 reference year. According to these data, there were 326,779 deaths in Canada in 2024, a slight decrease compared with 2023. Furthermore, the data show that mortality rates decreased for all age groups in 2024 in comparison with 2023 and, in general, for both males and females.
National culture indicators, second and third quarters 2025
Real gross domestic product (GDP) for the culture and sport sectors in Canada decreased by 0.5% in the third quarter of 2025. This was the fifth consecutive quarterly decline in these sectors of the economy and followed a decline of 0.3% in the second quarter. On a nominal basis, GDP for the culture and sport sectors increased 0.3% in the third quarter, following a 0.4% increase in the previous quarter.
Census of Environment: Water asset account, 2021
Data on Canada’s water assets are now available nationally and by drainage region. The pilot water asset account provides information on available stocks of freshwater, as well as changes in those stocks through natural and human processes. The account establishes foundations for exploring the availability of water to meet demands from the economy and to assess whether water uses are consistent with long-term sustainability of freshwater resources.
