Job vacancies fell in the first quarter of 2025 to 524,300 (-20,600; -3.8%), following little change in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Canada’s international transactions in securities, April 2025

Canadian investors acquired $4.1 billion of foreign securities in April, led by the highest investment in US government bonds since November 2023. Meanwhile, foreign investors reduced their exposure to Canadian securities by $9.4 billion in April 2025, led by the highest monthly divestment in Canadian bonds since December 2018.

Consumer Price Index: New basket weights, 2024

Updated basket weights for the goods and services in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), representing consumer spending patterns in 2024, are now available. The 2024 basket will combine expenditure data from the Household Final Consumption Expenditures, the Survey of Household Spending and alternative data sources to account for shifts in spending.
