Farm income, 2023
Realized net income for Canadian farmers rose 18.3% to $14.5 billion in 2023, as growth in receipts offset the rise in expenses. The increase in 2023 followed a 4.1% decline in 2022 and a 69.6% increase in 2021. Excluding cannabis, realized net income in 2023 was up 16.2% to $14.2 billion.
Farm cash receipts, January to March 2024
Farm cash receipts for Canadian farmers totalled $24.9 billion in the first quarter, down $2.4 billion (-8.7%) from the same quarter in 2023. Total crop receipts fell $3.3 billion in the first quarter of 2024 to $13.2 billion, as prices returned to normal for most major crops. Meanwhile, livestock receipts (+$721.3 million) increased to $9.6 billion, while program payments (+$226.4 million) rose to $2.2 billion.
Screened passenger traffic at Canadian airports, April 2024
In April, 4.3 million passengers passed through pre-board security screening at checkpoints operated at Canada’s eight largest airports, an increase of 4.0% from April 2023.

Production and disposition of tobacco products, April 2024
Canadian manufacturers produced 1.2 billion cigarettes in April 2024, up 0.6% from March 2024. Cigarette production was 11.6% higher compared with April 2023.
