This is what economic reconciliation with First Nations looks like in Canada – Toronto Star

On the lands of my First Nation, as with most Indigenous lands in Canada, we have for decades witnessed industry and governments walk away with profits and royalties from projects built on our territory. In our case, Fort Nelson First Nation members have benefitted from some employment opportunities, but those jobs have been vulnerable to the booms and busts of the energy and commodity sectors.

In Canada today, what does it look like for the Crown and industry to reconcile having forever changed our Indigenous lands and waters while having typically left only crumbs for the impacted Indigenous nations?

Hydro One has just answered that question by setting a new bar for economic reconciliation with First Nations in Canada.
