2022 Reports 5 to 8 of the Auditor General of Canada to the Parliament of Canada: The federal government does not know if it is reducing chronic homelessness

Press Release

From: Polar Knowledge Canada

WHITEHORSE, YT – Polar Knowledge Canada is opening a call for proposals that will support Yukon-based projects. Successful projects will advance knowledge on the call’s strategic theme: climate change impacts and adaptation strategies in the Yukon.

This regional call aligns with recent initiatives highlighting the connections between climate change, community well-being, and ecosystem health. It emphasizes self-determination in research that centres on Yukon First Nation priorities, and community-led initiatives that aim to create sustainable solutions and futures for all Yukon communities.

Through this call, POLAR acknowledges the upcoming 50-year anniversary of the foundational document, Together Today for our Children Tomorrow. Signed in 1973, Yukon First Nations leaders articulated a vision for research that drew on multiple ways of knowing, including Western science and Traditional Knowledge, and identified the importance of meaningful research relationships and capacity enhancement for Yukon First Nations. This Call for Proposals offers researchers an opportunity to reflect on this vision and calls for action related to northern research and knowledge advancement.

POLAR is working with a steering committee that includes Yukon First Nations, Yukon Government, and Yukon-based research practitioners to guide the call.
