Alderville First Nation outlines consultation protocol for development proposals
Duty-to-consult document presented to members of Northumberland County on April 15
COBOURG — Representatives from the Alderville First Nation have outlined a new duty-to-consult protocol to Northumberland County officials, which spells out what is expected from anyone wishing to develop First Nations treaty lands.
Presenting the protocol to Northumberland County officials on April 15, AFN lands and resources co-ordinator Dave Simpson said he hopes the member municipalities “work together” with Alderville officials on any proposed developments.
