Big Event keeps on growing – Timmins Press

TIMMINS – Canada’s largest gold mining convention is returning to the Timmins next month with a slate of new events and activities that can no longer be contained on the grounds of the McIntyre Arena.

The aptly named, Big Event Canadian Mining Expo is the premier mining industry event of the year and has just kept getting bigger year after year.

Space at the arena has become so tight that organizers decided to set up live equipment demonstrations at an off-site location along the back road to South Porcupine — the use of which is being donated by a local company. The venue will be accessible using a shuttle service provided for attendees at the expo.

“We’re setting up a demonstration of a junior mining camp where companies will be doing demos. So you’ll see how they set up a mining camp in a remote area. We’ll have helicopter landing; the whole set-up,” said expo organizer Glenn Dredhart. “It will be a 10-minute shuttle-bus ride from the McIntyre.”
