“Today’s federal announcement to engage Canadians on reforms to streamline major project reviews has real potential to improve approval certainty and timelines. Measures to simplify processes, reduce duplication, and deliver a single comprehensive federal decision, while maintaining strong environmental standards and respecting Indigenous rights, are important steps in the right direction. We heard loud and clear this week from the head of the IEA that Canada must move faster to advance projects that can get our oil and natural gas to global markets and seize a once‑in‑a‑generation opportunity to make Canada a true energy superpower. While more work remains to turn these proposals into timely decisions on the ground, this is a positive and welcome development for Canada’s economy, competitiveness, and energy future.”
