Plan to install turning lane off MR55 into Atikameksheng Anishnawbek

Greater Sudbury and Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation are partnering on a roads project that will see a left-handed turning lane installed at the intersection of Municipal Road 55 and Reserve Road.Dave Shelsted, the city’s road director, told members of the operations committee Tuesday the work should be completed this year. He was responding to a question from Ward 2 Coun. Michael Vagnini, who said residents in his ward have been asking him about the roadway since a serious accident took place there earlier this month.

“On Saturday, April 4, there was a severe accident where two individuals were seriously hurt,” Vagnini said. “One is still in the hospital, though at this point in time it looks like she’ll be making a full recovery.”
