Coast Tsimshian Enterprises and NCSG Crane & Heavy Haul Services Announce Partnership to Pursue Crane and Heavy Haul Work and Create Local Employment

PRINCE RUPERT, BRITISH COLUMBIA–( May 1, 2014) – Prince Rupert based Coast Tsimshian Enterprises Limited Partnership, jointly owned by the Metlakatla First Nation and Lax Kw’alaams Band, and NCSG Crane and Heavy Haul Corp. have formed Coast Tsimshian/NCSG Crane and Heavy Haul Limited Partnership a first nation majority owned business to exclusively pursue crane, rigging and heavy haul related project and maintenance work occurring on the traditional lands of the Lax Kw’alaams and Metlakatla First Nations.

This historic partnership between a business owned by the two local First Nations and Canada’s leading Crane and Heavy Haul company will result in an entity capable of providing full service, price competitive crane, rigging and heavy haul services with world class safety and customer service to local businesses, regional infrastructure projects and the upcoming LNG projects in the area.

“It represents an opportunity for us to provide meaningful careers for our people in the crane and heavy haul business for the long term,” said Mayor Gary Reece of the Lax Kw’alaams Band.

“This Partnership will allow both First Nations to take economic advantage of the existing and upcoming work in the region,” said Chief Harold Leighton of the Metlakatla First Nation. “We have a proud heritage of economic development and cooperation between our nations and with leading businesses such as NCSG and this agreement builds on that.”

“With our local operations in Prince Rupert as a result of our acquisition of Doug’s Crane in December of 2013 as well as a highly trained group of B.C. based operators and over 280 cranes and a large heavy haul fleet, we are uniquely positioned to handle the large upcoming LNG and other projects in the area,” said Ted Redmond, CEO of NCSG. “By working with Coast Tsimsian we will build an even stronger local work force including a significant First Nations contingent.”
