Conservative MP witnessed corruption by front-line child care workers – APTN

Conservative MP Rob Clarke says he’s seen evidence of corruption by front-line child care workers.

Clarke, a former RCMP officer who now represents the Saskatchewan riding of Desnethe—Missinippi–Churchill River, told APTN’s political show Nation to Nation it’s “frustrating” money for child welfare services often gets diverted.

“I have seen individuals that work with family services, get a new car for their services and sell it to their family members for a discounted rate,” said Clarke, who is Cree.

Clarke also claimed that First Nations organizations like the Assembly of First Nations and the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations, take a seven to 10 per cent cut off money destined for on-reserve child and family services as administrative fees.
